What's New (5010)
NH DHHS statement regarding 5010 implementation :
New Hampshire Medicaid will begin vendor and provider testing of the ANSI X12 v5010;
837P, 837D, and 835 on February 27, 2012. 837I testing will begin on March 5, 2012
and testing for 270/271 and 276/277 is estimated to begin in mid-March.
All testing concludes March 30, 2012 in anticipation of the end of the CMS
contingency period and our implementation of v5010 on April 1, 2012.
Trading Partners who wish to submit test files are required to review both
the testing instructions and frequently asked questions documents. Once you have read
the documentation you will need to fill out the 5010 Testing Form and return it
to NH Medicaid. The New Hampshire Medicaid submitter’s registration form and testing
documents can be found at: http://www.nhmedicaid.com/5010/5010.html
DHHS continues to work toward implementing the HIPAA 5010 electronic transactions
as expeditiously as possible. Although progress monitoring occurs daily, there may
not be sufficient time to reach full 5010 capability before January 1st.We want to
make our trading partners aware that as we strive to implement the 5010 transactions,
the NH MMIS will continue accepting claims and other transactions
in the 4010 format beyond January 1, 2012 for an undetermined period of time.
For those providers who submit their claims using PES or on paper, there will be
no impact. For those providers/trading partners that are able to continue sending
their transactions in the 4010 format, current processing will continue.
If you anticipate that you will not be able to continue submitting in the current
4010 format after January 1 2012, please contact the MMIS Provider Relations Department
immediately at: 1-800-423-8303 ( NH & VT) or 603-224-1747. You may also send
an email to michelle.dodge@hp.com. Please provide your trading partner number and
your NH Medicaid provider number(s), contact name and phone number.
We will work together to find a mutually agreeable contingency plan for the submission
and processing of your NH Medicaid claims.
Due to the delay in the implementation of the new MMIS system,
New Hampshire DHHS recently requested HP to evaluate and provide
recommendations to prepare the State for the HIPPA 5010 electronic
claims submission requirements that are due January 1, 2012.
New Hampshire appreciates HP's willingness to partner with the State
in Crafting a proposal and contract that was approved by the Governor
and Council on October 26, 2011. Since then, HP has worked quickly to
prepare the existing system to be 5010 compliant as soon as possible.
We have completed our 5010 gap analysis and business design.
Our 5010 837 Transaction (Claims) Companion Guides will be published
on this website by November 27th and the companion guides for the other
transactions will be posted as soon thereafter as possible. We expect to
begin testing with the New Hampshire provider community in mid-December.
We are working diligently to implement 5010 transaction processing as close
to January 1 as possible. Additionally, we will continue to process any
version 4010 transactions received beyond January 1, 2012, thereby allowing
for an extended transition period for those providers who are not quite ready
for 5010 by January.
DHHS is working to define a contingency strategy to help ensure that payments
to providers are not interrupted. DHHS recognizes that the current Fiscal Agent,
HP, has not caused and is not responsible for the delay in developing a 5010 plan.
We wish to express our thanks to HP for their continued expertise and rapid response
to the State.
